Project Details
The AidMax project was born out of a deeply personal and moving moment. The idea came to life while the founder was working on his Master's thesis at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, searching for ways technology could help people in mental crises. The foundation was built on real experiences of loneliness, overwhelm, and loss, which raised the question: Why is it so hard for young people to find quick support during acute crises? Driven by this inner motivation, the desire emerged to create a platform that combines empathy and artificial intelligence. A platform that listens when no one else is there and gives young people the courage to speak about their feelings.
The Master's thesis was supported by professors from the Munich University of Applied Sciences and served as the scientific foundation for the development of the first AidMax prototype. In collaboration with psychologists, researchers, and AI experts, a concept was created that relies on psychological insights and ethically responsible technology. From the very beginning, the goal was to create an artificial intelligence that doesn't just react, but truly understands what moves people in crisis situations. AidMax was developed to ensure conversations are conducted with empathy, safety, and anonymity. This combination of technology, empathy, and data privacy quickly became the project's hallmark.
The Master's thesis soon evolved into an interdisciplinary research and development project, which is now part of an ongoing doctoral thesis. The focus is on the scientific question of how artificial intelligence can detect emotional signals, understand psychological patterns, and respond appropriately. This work combines computer science, psychology, and communication design toward a common goal: promoting the mental well-being of young people. It integrates current findings from psychological research, machine learning, and practical experience working with youth.
A central milestone in the development of AidMax was its acceptance into the Precelerator Program at the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE). This collaboration has decisively shaped the project. The SCE supports AidMax not only with coaching and expert advice but also helps transform a research initiative into a sustainable social innovation project. The founders of AidMax benefit from the experience and networks of other startups, experts, and mentors dedicated to creating lasting social impact. In this way, scientific research is turning into a project with real reach and impact.
Parallel to scientific advancement, the Team is continuously working on new functions for the AidMax chatbot. Plans include modules that better recognize personal moods, personalize conversations, and simultaneously offer recommendations for further help. The development of a mobile app and the integration of voice features are also part of the current phase. This aims to make AidMax even more accessible in the future, helping young people who prefer speaking to typing. Furthermore, work is underway to integrate AidMax into schools, universities, and counseling networks to connect those affected with professional support more quickly.
A special focus of the ongoing doctoral research is on the ethical design of the AI. Every new feature is scientifically monitored and evaluated. The project follows clear guidelines regarding the protection of privacy, algorithmic transparency, and the avoidance of discrimination. AidMax aims not only to be a technological leader but also a role model for responsible AI in the social sector. Therefore, every decision, every change, and every new function is coordinated with experts in ethics, psychology, and data protection .
In the long term, the AidMax project pursues the vision of becoming available across Europe. The combination of research, social commitment, and technological progress makes AidMax a unique initiative in the field of mental health. With the support of the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship and the Munich University of Applied Sciences, AidMax is being expanded step by step into a platform that offers hope, safety, and guidance to adolescents and young adults everywhere. The goal is clear: No one should ever have to feel alone in a crisis again.
AidMax stands for compassion, science, and innovation. It combines the power of modern technology with genuine humanity, creating a place where listening and understanding are at the center. What began as an academic project is today a growing movement that encourages people to talk about mental health and rethink how we provide help.
